Someone said to me not long ago that Psycho was over rated, well all I can say is that their crazy, as crazy as Norman Bates!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great film and at times scared me, more so then some resent thrillers. Hitchcock really is the "master of suspense" he uses excellent camera shots throughout and uses reflection as a great way to scare. Using mirrors and reflection is something I will defiantly consider putting into my opening as it is both relatively easy and something that personally frightens me.
The thing that's always got me with Psycho is the stuffed birds in the parlour. The very normal, plain, everyday motel and then those crazy stuffed birds staring at you and the way he says 'you eat like a bird'. Brrr... chilling!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I found the first half of Psycho a bit boring, until Miranda got to the motel. Then it started getting creepy! I loved the stairway shots, and the use of the Macguffin! Plus the iconic plot twist at the end; I don't thinik anyone had Norman Bates picked as a split personality Psycho! Yhere is alot we could take from Hitchcock and encorporate into out film; distorted angles, reflections and definitely some voyerism!
ReplyDeleteI love Psycho, its an awesome and really iconic film and Norman Bates is one of the best horror characters ever along with the likes of Vincent Price and Leatherface etc.
